A second floor extension to a home in Southern Melbourne. It wasn’t a great surprise to realise that planning boundary setbacks were going to be a major design factor, and the two formal parts of the extension are distorted variants on the given ‘dutch gable’ envelope. The exception is the verandah roof, tilted steeply to the North and ready for photovoltaic panels. The canopy to the north works in the horizontal as a sun shade and in the vertical as a privacy blinker.
These are stills of the Sketchup model that has developed along side the drawing set.
