Old Edwardian with new living space to the rear.
The new space consists of two main forms that are ‘plugged-on’ to the original house.
One is an understated domestic lean-to lifting to reveal original Edwardian detail in the house. The other is a dramatic black hood that cuts and wraps forming canopies, structure, roof and walls. This hood is heavy and forceful, pushing down on the light timber frame.
The two forms slide against each other, defining both dining/living against kitchen and shaping the deck to the north. Smaller interior elements are detailed alongside larger formal ideas, creating moments that slide and push against the building itself.
